The Altrincham Town Centre Neighbourhood Business Plan is effective from 2015 – 2030. The creation and adoption by Council of a Neighbourhood Plan needs to go through four separate stages. These stages are listed below, together with the timeframes for the Altrincham Plan.
Mid-October 2014 – Mid-November 2017
- Public consultation, Stage One: defining the issues and gathering the facts in conjunction with local community (mid-October – mid-November 2014)
- Public Consultation Stage Two: engaging local community in discussion and receiving feedback on draft proposals (February – March 2015)
- Public Consultation Stage 3: gathering comments and feedback on final proposals (mid-January – mid-February 2016). The final Plan, together with the Basic Conditions Statement and The Consultation Statement was submitted to the Council for review.
- The Council reviewed the documents to ensure that it (i) met the requirements of the Localism Act 2011, (ii) to appoint an independent examiner to confirm the process for creating the plan had been correctly followed (iii) to advertise the plan for 6 weeks and conduct public referenda, one for local businesses and one for the general Altrincham Public (June 2016 – October 2017). N.b. this timeframe reflects local council elections which happened part way through this period.
The documents produced to support the above process can be found here:-

Following a positive result from both referenda, the Council adopted the Altrincham Neighbourhood Business Plan, which will thus run from October 2017 – 2030.
